Engineering and Prototyping
Our Engineering and Prototyping Department works every day in a real production environment. This means we can optimise the journey from design through to a functional end product.
Our lean organization, project teams and process management tools give us an unparalleled opportunity to respond flexibly to our customers' needs. This reduces costs on both sides.
Range of Production
We offer not just welded structures but also hydraulic and pneumatic components together with electrical installation, actuators and the programming of operator controls. The entire product is manufactured in our factory.
The highly challenging projects we have undertaken over the last decade have further strengthened the traditional craftsmanship that has been at the core of our business throughout its history.
We are Close to Everywhere
The excellent geographic location of our company means we can offer our European customers the ability to meet us in our premises and be back home within the same working day.
Testing and Certification
We do not strive to be just suppliers of finished products. Our goal is to provide our customers with complete and proven solutions that work and that are ready to operate.
Manufacturing equipment for the oil and gas and maritime industries is one of the most demanding areas of engineering. Detailed adjustment of our entire production process to deal with the demands of these areas has given us the patterns, the knowledge and the experience needed to design and manufacture equipment in the other areas of engineering in which we have worked both in the recent, and not so recent past. We are able to offer the experience we have acquired from more than 100 years of history of manufacturing, restoring and installing hydraulic and pneumatic components, as well as in the field of pressure vessels.
On January 1, 2017 Mr. David Kozel was appointed to the position of SALTEN’s Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer. David has previously worked for the company as chief operating officer. The history of our engineering plant in Slany dates back to 1872 when construction started on a factory for Bolzano, Tedeso and Company. Right from the start, our plant has been the source of significant engineering achievements - as evidenced by the award of a gold medal at the Vienna Engineering Fair in 1873. In the early 20th century the plant expanded its area very significantly. It also delivered on State contracts for the Navy and produced the first type 524 steam locomotive. In 1927 the plant became part of the Českomoravská-Kolben-Danek joint stock company. This became one of the largest engineering and machinery manufacturing enterprises in Europe (with 10,000 blue collar and 1,600 white-collar employees). This period also led to the revival of the company's export programme to India and Persia. The fact that during WW2, a company operating under the name Českomoravské strojírny (Bohemian-Moravian Machine Works) was a part of the production program for the German army. In 2015, the company was taken over of Norwegian ownership by a group of Czech investors and now continues the history of Czech engineering in the hands of Czech owners.
